: Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) is targeting 14,900 new entrepreneurs in Sabah through various programmes and training being implemented throughout the country.

Sabah Deputy Mara Director, Syed Jaafar Syed Harun, said statistics from Sabah Mara showed the State had the lowest number of prospects taking advantage of the facilities made available.

He said this while closing a Pembetukan Usahawan Teknikal (Putek) programme, organised by Giatmara Sabah, over 10 days in a local hotel here, Saturday. It was understood that 1,969 trainees had graduated from Giatmara centres in Sandakan, Kinabatangan, Libaran and Beluran.

Syed Jaafar said the various Giatmara centres had been incepted to provide the necessary training for youths aspiring to venture into various business undertakings.

According to him, only 20 percent of the trainees had succeeded in their ventures, while the others were either in the ordinary level or had failed.
