No loss to Umno: Masidi

Kota Kinabalu: The opposition will not benefit even if former Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Zaid Ibrahim were to join them.

Sabah Umno Liaison Assistant Secretary, Datuk Masidi Manjun said:

"This is not about Umno, this is not about PKR or DAPÉthis is about leadership and values of a leader," he told reporters after presenting the Panasonic Kid Witness News 2008 Regional Awards at Pacific Sutera, Wednesday.

Masidi, who is State Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister, said that despite the negative impact the dismissal of Zaid from Umno might cause, it would be understood by those involved.

As a matter of fact, he said the sacking of Zaid from Umno would only strengthen the party.

Masidi said the decision to sack Zaid was made after all statements and information had been compiled, adding that a political leader must choose whether he wants to be on the left or on the right.

"You cannot be on both sidesÉso, when you decide to play both sides then obviously the relevant party must take action."

He said political leaders must have clear and consistent principles in his or her political struggles.
